For Bed and Breakfast and self catering accommodation in Cardigan, Ceredigion, west Wales, Coed y Bryn is a deceptively spacious accommodation and in an ideal location for those walking the world famous west Wales coastal paths, It is positioned at the southern end of the newly opened Ceredigion Coast Path and the northern end of the award winning Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
The house is unusual in that the owner has made every effort to reduce its carbon footprint to an absolute minimum by utilising conventional methods. All the woodworks (with the exception of one or two very small areas) have been treated with natural oils and waxes and no oil based paints have been utilised. Natural wood floors (Redwood pine) have been used in all the ground floor rooms and hallway. Local hardwoods from sustainable sources have been used to make various items of furniture (some projects are still ongoing) and all the doors, skirtings, architraves and trims are, once again, naturally oiled redwood and once again, have been produced from sustainable sources.
Attic and roof spaces together with all exterior walls are insulated to very high levels to ensure low levels of electricity are consumed and sound insulation is maintained at a very high level.
Keep your eyes open when visiting and note the Welsh oak dresser, refectory dining table, chairs, stools and other small pieces (including special cantilevered shelving) which have all been made using locally sourced oak from the Teifi valley. Most of the pieces have been made by the owner in the small workshop at the bottom of the garden. The wardrobes and cupboards in a number of the bedrooms have also been produced in the same fashion. All items have been treated using low impact bees waxes and no petrochemical oil based products have been utilised.
Although modern plastics have been used for the exterior doors and windows (extra width 20mm double glazed panels with thermal glazing) to provide the necessary thermal and acoustic requirements, all attempts have been made to give the house a very quiet, peaceful organic, feel.
Located only a 2 min walk to the River Teifi, Cardigan Castle and the market town of Cardigan the location is an ideal spot from which to spend a few days (or longer) to explore the local countryside and stunning unspoilt beaches such as Poppit Sands and Mwnt beach. The area is totally unspoilt and uncommercialised and many SSSI's (Sites of Special Scientific Interest) are located in the area. The sea area between Ceibwr in the south and Aberarth in the north is also a cSAC (Special Area of Conservation).

We offer full bed and breakfast facilities (or self catering in our fully self contained studio apartment) and are ideal for those simply passing through Cardigan for the odd day or looking for a short ‘staycation’ break.
Our bed and breakfast offers a choice of rooms - kingsize doubles, doubles, twins, singles and family rooms (sleeps 4) with standard or full ensuite rooms available.
Continental or freshly cooked full English breakfast is available in our stunning fully air conditioned conservatory dining room which overlooks the spacious garden area to the rear of the property. To maintain the theme of low carbon footprint / sustainable materials being used, the 30 sqmtr conservatory floor is made entirely from Bamboo. The conservatory is also home to a range of tropical plants including Rubber, Bamboo, fig and Banana. Grape vines (red and white) also grace the roof / ceiling adding to the superb organic ambience of your breakfast dining experience. By the way, the rubber plant alone is just short of 9 mtrs in length and still growing strongly day by day !

BOOKINGS / RESERVATIONS
We accept reservations using a credit or debit card. A deposit of 25% of the total booking price will be payable at the time of making the reservation. The reservation fee will only be refundable if the cancellation of the booking is made 7 days prior to the commencement of the reservation date/s. Any outstanding balances (including those for room upgrades and / or supplements) will be payable on departure (unless requested at the time of arrival).
Unfortunately, our facilities do not cater for fully disabled persons (no wheelchair access) but we do have ground floor rooms available for those who are partially disabled and are unable to climb stairs. All ground floor areas are flat and level without steps.
